PORTRAY

6 - 10 October 2018

I will present two portraits produced during a two-month artist-in-residence programme in Mumbai, reflecting my experience and engagement with the locals.

Art Number 23 Gallery presents Portray, an exhibition held at the Old Biscuit Factory, bringing together a diverse selection of contemporary works exploring the theme of portraiture.

Portray considers the many ways in which identity and presence can be expressed through the act of portrait making. The exhibition moves beyond traditional representation, highlighting a range of approaches including figurative, abstract, conceptual, and experimental interpretations of the human form. Each selected work reflects a unique perspective on how we observe, construct, and reinterpret identity in contemporary art practice.

The exhibition features artists working across painting, drawing, photography, and mixed media, offering a broad and engaging dialogue around the evolving language of portraiture today.

Opening Reception: 5 October, 6 – 9pm.
