I am pleased to share that my work Under Construction has been selected for this year’s RSA Annual Exhibition and was highlighted by members of the Selection Committee as one of the Ten Works: The Convenors’ Highlights. At the Opening Ceremony, Jo Ganter RSA commented: “the choice of such an un-aesthetic subject as 3 bags of waste slumped against a wall intrigued me and brought to mind Christo’s wrapped objects. The painting of these shiny pale blue sacks, each half full of rubble – I imagine – is skillful: every crease and shadow exquisitely rendered. I’m always moved by the attention and respect that craft-skill can give to ordinary objects. It’s a reason for painting in an age flooded with images that are made fast and posted” The Annual Exhibition is the core of the RSA’s exhibition programme, and represents the Academy’s commitment to promoting excellence in visual art in Scotland.
